For this week's entry, I opted for a distant reading/thin description of Ulmer's TELEtheory, partly because the writing was quite dense, and at some points I was forced to rely on Internet clips, interviews and lectures and the explanation of other writers to create meaning. I was, however, intrigued by the concept of mystory and found myself skipping to Part 3 of his book to get a glimpse of what that may look like. After reading through the mystory, I am recommitted to working through new and complex concepts presented in the first two parts of the book. One idea that I am particularly interested in learning more about is the shift from hermeneutics to heuretics that Ulmer emphasizes. Click the link below to view the flipbook which highlights key points from the introduction and first chapter, as well as my reflection on the topic, then watch the video.

If you have trouble viewing the flipbook, please see the slide show below.

"A composition is an expression of  relationships - between parts and parts, between parts and whole, between the visual and the verbal, between text and context, between reader and composer, between what is intended and what is unpacked, between hope and realization. And, ultimately, between human beings."       Kathleen Blake Yancey
